One of our areas of expertise is caring for birds with special medical, environmental or behavioural needs. You can read about some of our permanent residents below:
The Soft Landing Animal Aid Association was formed as a Charitable Unincorporated Association on April 30, 2010 to support the work of our Founder, Kris Woods.
The Soft Landing Animal Aid Association is registered with HM Revenue & Customs for Gift Aid (tax relief) under reference XT26343, and is recognised as a charity for tax purposes.
Charity Commission registration will follow as soon as we meet their requirement to show evidence (bank statements or promissory notes) of an annual income of £5,000 or more. See here for what the Charity Comission says about registration. See here for how a charity is defined (a charity is a charity even if it isn't registered with the Charity Commission).
Site Still Under Construction July 2011
2010 saw us downsizing as we had to move. Finding safe & caring homes for around a hundred birds before we had to move set our plans back quite substantially. We currently care for only 40 or so birds: mainly those with behavioural or medical issues. We are still providing advice & support as well as rescue & re-homing services where needed. Sadly, at our current site we cannot provide the work-experience and training that we see as an important part of our work. We are expecting 2011 to be exciting!
We are very grateful for the generosity of our supporters, friends, family and the general public. Our Founder has always personally funded the shortfall between income and expenditure, and she always manages to find something extra to deal with emergencies, whatever the cost!
* Diagnosis of disease and injury and medical treatment of animals is regulated by the The Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 (Section 19), the Protection of Animals Act (1911) and The Animal Welfare Act (2006). This does not prevent appropriate emergency treatment or first aid when a vet is not available.
